The clients wanted to create a guest cottage (Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU)) on the property of their main home — a cozy, self-contained retreat for family and friends. This 750-square-foot cottage was designed to feel both cozy and spacious, with an open layout and 17-foot vaulted ceilings in the living room that create an airy sense. A custom screen door in a deep blue greets guests while complementing the natural cedar shingles.

Large windows were thoughtfully placed to invite abundant natural light, enhancing the connection between the interior and its surroundings. A palette of light, neutral colors was selected for the walls and cabinetry to provide a calm backdrop that highlights the clients’ artwork and memorable pieces, making the space feel truly personal and lived-in.

White oak hardwood floors run throughout the cottage, adding warmth and texture, while a playful penny tile in a soft blue hue brings character and charm to the bathroom. The result is a welcoming cottage that feels timeless, bright and welcoming.
